Townsends Inlet Bridge is Closed:
The T. I. Bridge (connecting Sea Isle City and Avalon) is currently closed, due to the need for repairs to the bridge's south abutment. The current schedule is for the bridge to remain closed through February 12, 2016. The bridge is expected to be open for 2016 Polar Bear Plunge weekend (Presidents Weekend). Following Polar Bear Plunge weekend, the roadway will remain open, with the possibility of one lane closures for the contractor to complete any required work. All work is expected to be completed and the roadway fully open by March 15, 2016. Motorists, pedestrians and bicycles must plan an alternate route while the bridge is closed. Thank you.
Beach Fill Update
Initial replenishment of all beaches in Sea Isle has been completed, with nearly two million cubic yards of sand placed along Sea Isle’s shoreline. The City may receive additional refilling of sand eroded by the recent nor’easter, dependent on the Army Corps of Engineers analysis of the extent of erosion. If refilling is performed, it would occur this winter. Work is continuing on placement of gravel for dune crossovers, along with installation of railing and dune fencing.
